Domestic Relationship Property Settlement

Upon the breakdown of a de facto or same sex relationship either party can seek to negotiate, mediate or litigate any property issues arising from the breakdown of the relationship.

The law covering these "domestic relationships" in Victoria is the Property Law Act. The legislation is similar in its terms to the Family Law Act save that it does not provide for ongoing financial support.
